Faia Brava became Portugal's first private protected area twenty-five years ago. Griffon and Egyptian vultures, golden and Bonelli's eagles nest on its schist cliffs; Garrano horses graze the slopes. Eternal Forest, a planting campaign founded by the artist Evgenia Emets, works with ATN to plant a dense native forest sanctuary of about twelve hectares inside the reserve: five hundred trees in November 2025, twelve hundred more in February 2026.
